Lineage

The wisdom I draw from and the yoga I teach comes from a traditional lineage of yoga masters from the Saraswati tradition of India.

My yoga classes honour and reflect this traditional and authentic path, but are relevant to modern life.

Swami Vishwananda Saraswati
​

 Very little is actually known about Swami Vishwananda. He lived in India in a forest ashram along with his pet bull and a wild tiger. He became the Guru of Swami Sivananda and initiated him into Sannyasa (monastic life, dedicated to self realisation) and the higher teachings of yoga. 

Sri​ Swami Sivananda Saraswati
1887 - 1963

Swami Sivananda was one of the great yoga masters of the 20th Century. He resided in a small town at the foothills of the Himalayas called Rishikesh, practicing and teaching the many paths of yoga, and working tirelessly to uplift the poor, sick and hungry. He wrote hundreds of books on yoga and lived the life of a true Yogi. His teachings could be summarised in these words: Serve, Love, Give, Purify, Meditate, Realise.

Swami Satyasangananda Saraswati
1953 - Present

Swami Satsangi as she is fondly referred to is the Heart and leader of the Rikhiapeeth Ashram in Jharkhand, India. She has dedicated herself to  uplifting the neglected, impoverished and downtrodden villagers in the surrounding areas of the ashram, by implementing the teachings of her Paramguru Swami Sivananda Saraswati: Serve, Love, Give. Her tireless and unceasing efforts, have transformed the entire area into a vibrant centre of spirituality .It was Swami Satsangi who initiated me into this ancient lineage of yoga.
